Gran Fondo Canada
Join us for a week of cycling in British Colombia in Canada’s most scenic countryside. Spend 3 days cycling on historic Vancouver Island followed by 2 days in Vancouver. We top off the week with the spectacular RBC Gran Fondo Whistler, which goes from downtown Vancouver to Whistler along the scenic Sea to Sky highway, which will be closed to traffic during the event.
More about the RBC Gran Fondo Whistler:
“I’ve participated in cycling events of every kind all over the planet and I can honestly say that the RBC GranFondo Whistler was the best organized, best supported, and had every contingency plan imaginable. It was a thrill to participate and I hope I can return!” - Bob ‘Bobke’ Roll
“The atmosphere, all the wheels whirling in the wind, the opportunity to draft with more than just my regular 8 same riding partners, the year-to-year time challenge of doing Vancouver to Whistler… on and on it goes. This is the event I circle on the calendar every year! I love the signing in process and checking out all the “cyclery,” and I especially love the party in Whistler at the end of it all.” - Brendan from Powell River, BC
“The whole thing was the best ride I have ever participated in and truly was the best. From the time I registered to the time I departed Whistler Village the day after, it was just an awsome experience. You guys/gals did an excellent job with the event. The package pickup was great! The ride support and volunteers, AWESOME! The route was breathless and the welcome into Whistler and the “party” after the ride was great! Well done staff of the 2012 RBC GranFondo Whistler, WELL DONE!” - Joe from Kirkland, WA
If you’ve had Canada on your travel plans, you now have a great reason to make the trip! After three years, the RBC GranFondo Whistler has established itself as one of the largest cycling events of its kind in North America, attracting thousands each year from around the globe. The 122 km closed course starts in downtown Vancouver and takes cyclists along the Sea to Sky Highway to Whistler Resort. En route, you’ll have breathtaking views of Howe Sound, challenging climbs through the Coast Mountain range, and plenty of downhill. “It’s like a dream to be able to ride the route on fresh pavement in a dedicated lane with thousands of my new best friends,” says Canadian Alex Stieda, the first North American to wear the Tour de France yellow jersey (1986). “The support stations along the way and the festival atmosphere at the finish make this event very special.” The organizers have also introduced this event concept to two more epic locations in Canada: Banff, Alberta, on 24 August and Niagara Falls, Ontario, on 14 September .
