ITT Course — Sept 9, 2011

The UCI World Championships Individual Time Trial for masters and amateurs will be both for time trial specialists and climbers as the course will start with a flat piece of 9,2 kilometers on an old railroad towards Malmédy. There are two tunnels in the course which will be fully enlightened. This section is for the Cancellara’s amongst masters and amateurs as high speed and power will be the key words.

After 9,2 kilometers, riders leave the bikepath on the railroad and discover the very steep climb of Floriheid. The altitude at the bottom is 352 meters. On top after exactly 1 kilometer, altitude has gone up to 462 meters which means the average gradient is 11% with maximum pieces of 20%.

On top riders take a deep dive towards Malmédy to join back the old railroad back towards Stavelot. Here riders will cross each other on a 2,5 meter wide road. The finish is after 21,8 kilometers on the same spot as the start is given.

Road Race Course — Sept 11, 2011

The point of departure and arrival of the road race is the picturesque Stavelot in the ‘Ardennes Bleue’. With the legendary climbs of the Côte de Stockeu and the Côte de la Haute Levée within reach, this is the ideal operating base for experienced cyclists.

The organizers opted for a combination of a relatively smooth run-up with a demanding final across the monuments of Liège-Bastogne-Liège. Download the complete road race course description. (pdf)
