Get Ready for Double Ascents Up the Galibier!

Join Destination Cycling for week 3 of the 2011 Tour de France from the Alps to the finish in Paris. Not to be trumped by last year’s double ascent up the Tourmalet, this year Tour organizers have decided on a double ascent of the Galibier! The week is action-packed while we get to witness four stages!

We begin the journey with a climb in Italy, near Pinerolo and the gateway to France. This time it will be the Col Agnel and the Col Izoard on our way to our hotel in France. On July 20th, the Tour will ride right by our hotel so we will ride the Col Montgenevre and/or the Col Sestriere. For Stage 18, it is time to pack our bags as we ride from the hotel over the Lautauret to the Galibier where the Pros will have a mountain top finish.

Stage 19 takes us back to Alpe d’Huez, for more mountain top fireworks! We have been taking to guests to the Tour now for over 20 years, and Alpe d’Huez has been in our schedule countless times. It never disappoints.

Time to head west to the rolling flats of Grenoble and the Individual Time Trial. As if all the mountains were not enough to separate the GC, they will have one more opportunity to make time! Get ready for a truly action-packed, non-stop week mixed of high mountain adventure, time-trial precision, and a festive end in Paris.

Europcar has chosen to ride Colnago bicycles for 2011 and continuing for another 2 more years. We will be sure to arrange special access to the Team to make your tour even more memorable than in years past.
